Pre Appointment Checklist
To make your visit go more smoothly, we will ensure we have all the following information. If the minimum investigations have not been done, we can organize it for you if it is clear you need to see a surgeon. If more investigations are required, we can organize those prior to your visit as well. This will save you extra trips, and therefore time and money.
When you come for your appointment please bring the following:
- Referral from your GP, endocrinologist, or other doctor
- Reports of blood tests, ultrasound, CT scans etc and any other relevant information
- The actual images of relevant CT, or sestamibi study for Prof. Miller to review
- If these were done at Royal Melbourne, Epworth, MIA/iMed, Lake Imaging, or FMIG, she can access images online
- A list of your medical history, medications and doses, and allergies
- Medicare card, DVA card
- Private Hospital Insurance information with you
- Bring a friend or family member for support if possible
Minimum Requirements for a thyroid-related referral:
- Referral from your GP, endocrinologist, or other doctor
- Thyroid Function Tests
- Thyroid Ultrasound in all patients except Graves’ disease with no palpable nodules
- Other imaging IF you have already had it: (if not, we will organize if needed)
- CT scan if thyroid extends well into chest or for locally advanced cancer
- Thyroid nuclear scan if your thyroid is overactive
- Cytology report if a thyroid biopsy had been done.
- If you have not had a biopsy, we can provide one if needed
Minimum Requirements for a parathyroid-related referral
- Referral from your GP, endocrinologist, or other doctor
- Blood tests: calcium, PTH, Vitamin D, U&E
- Dr. Miller prefers to organize parathyroid imaging with her experienced radiologists.
- If you already had imaging done, please bring report AND images themselves.
- Do not depend on the radiology company to forward images
- If they were done at RMH, Epworth, MIA/iMed, Lake Imaging, or FMIG, she can access images online)
Minimum Requirements for an adrenal-related referral:
- Referral from GP, endocrinologist, or other doctor
- CT scan or MRI report and images and any other relevant imaging
- Do not depend on the radiology company to forward images
- If they were done at RMH, Epworth, MIA/iMed, Lake Imaging, or FMIG, she can access images online
- Any blood or urine tests done to investigate adrenal function.
- We can organize for you if not already done.
- You should NEVER get an adrenal biopsy without consulting with a specialist first.
